Fish In Peace Ry Guy Foundation
Who Are We?
Fish in Peace is a nonprofit organization in memory of
Ryan “Ry Guy” Joseph Jastrzembski.
Our goal is to raise funds for scholarships, hospitals, sports, and any other cause in need.
Who is Ry Guy?
Ry Guy was born on August 31, 2010, and was the youngest of four. Ryan went to be in Peace on September 2, 2022.
Ryan loved family, friends, animals, creatures, cars, bikes, you name it, but nothing compared to his love of fishing. Ryan LOVED to fish. He jumped on his bike before and after school to rush straight to his favorite lakes. He often took boat rides out to The Canyons for big catches. Ryan, at such a young age, was able to tie knots, drive a boat, and teach his elders things they hadn’t known. Ryan has caught tuna, marlin, striper, and bass. He loved anything that had to do with fishing. He always had a pole in his hands, and if not, he could makeshift something to get near fish. Ryan was loved by all. He was always class favorite, adored by his teachers, administrators, and classmates.
Ryan was always helping with chores, or anything that needed doing at home. He’d help anyone, any animal. If he saw a hurt animal, he would want to heal it. If he saw a baby crying, he would be right there to help. His heart was pure.
Ry Guy’s Story:
On January 24, 2022, Ryan was in a horrific bonfire accident.
Immediately after, he was flown to a Philadelphia Hospital by helicopter, and then by jet to Galveston, Texas. He had burned over 95 percent of his body.
On January 27, 2022, Ryan was checked into Shriner’s Burn Center in Galveston, Texas, 1,600 miles away from home. From the second he went through those doors and immediately into surgery, he began his healing process.
Ryan endured countless, painful procedures, but never gave up. Ryan pushed through every second of every day. His caring for his family, friends at home, Dexter (his dog), other children in the hospital, staff who became family kept him fighting. Although Ryan wouldn't give up, despite his unimaginable, gruesome fight, his body couldn’t endure any longer.
On September 2, 2022, two days after Ryan’s 12th birthday, having endured 221 days of a nightmare, he left us and is in Peace.
Why Fish in Peace?
With Ryan’s love for fishing and helping others, we wanted to keep his legacy alive.
Ryan will forever be in our hearts and minds. Even after what he endured, he still wanted to help others. It will forever be our honor and privilege to make sure that happens.
